Ambition

AgiLight aims to provide for the first-time integrated frequency-agile lasers with Hz-level linewidths, that can address any wavelength from the near UV, visible (VIS) to near-infrared (NIR). This consortium brings together a careful selection of experienced partners from academia and industry with highly complementary skills and cover all competencies needed to implement and leverage the envisaged science-to-technology. AgiLight results are expected to make a difference well beyond the project’s duration by shifting the lasers market from using legacy bulk ECDL lasers to a new generation of integrated lasers manufactured using wafer-scale processing, enabling high volume applications.

One concept, one platform from UV to Near-IR

Ultra low noise and frequency agile

Establish a new class of photonic integrated laser

Technologies

This hybrid integrated platform, enabled by advanced technologies such as micro-lenses and photonic wirebonds, combines ultra-low loss photonic integrated circuits with different optical gain materials. The flexibility of this approach enables to address a large span of the SiN transparency window. The same laser concept will be declined at various wavelenght to target high impact applications.

Low loss silicon nitride

Flexible use of different optical gain materials thanks to hybrid integration

Advanced photonic integration technologies

Applications

AgiLight will translate ground-breaking research to rapid technology uptake and tailor laser systems for atomic and molecular physics and optics, distance ranging and sensing using the expertise of end-users.
